Space Heating Comparison Case Study
Recirculation Heater
A large 40,000 cfm direct gas-fired recirculation heater, rated 3,850 MBH with continuously running 20 HP motor and night setback was used to heat a 45,000 sq. ft. warehouse facility in upstate New York.
- Temperatures inside the building fluctuated.
- Utility bills confirm operating costs at $0.47 per sp. ft. ($0.28 gas + $0.19 electric).
- They would have saved %15,000 a year with a Cambridge Space Heating System at $0.13 per sq. ft.
A smaller 11,000 cfm Cambridge space heating system, needed only 1,800 MBH to heat a similar 50,000 sq. ft. warehouse in upstate New York. The more efficient Cambridge system ran 3 HP motors intermittently.
- Building temperatures fluctuated only ±5°F.
- Based on indentical heating degree days, the operating costs for this warehouse was only $0.13 per sq. ft. ($0.12 gas + $0.01 electric).
- That is 72% savings in utility bills.
