Direct Gas-Fired Air Heating
Space Heating vs. Make-Up AirDirect gas-fired technology has grown in popularity as more engineers specify this equipment because it is the most energy efficient way to provide space heating and tempered make-up air for warehouses and other large industrial and commercial buildings. Unfortunately, some engineers and contractors who are trying to do the "right" thing by asking for direct gas-fired heaters have been mislead and are therefore selecting the "wrong" direct gas-fired equipment for their applications. The result can be higher installed costs for the contractor and higher operating costs for the building owner.
Cambridge Engineering has been designing and manufacturing energy efficient direct gas-fired air heating equipment for almost 40 years. We pioneered the concept of using this technology for industrial space heating applications. Other manufacturers are now trying to hop on the bandwagon. They are promoting direct gas-fired make-up air units as space heaters and calling it a "new technology." In reality, their heaters are bigger, higher CFM, lower temperature rise units designed to heat replacement air, and are not the best choice for most space heating applications.
At Cambridge, we only manufacture non-recirculating, direct gas-fired heaters. We understand the difference between make-up air and space heater designs. That's why we offer both technologies, the M-Series Make-Up Air and S-Series Space Heater product lines.
M-Series Make-Up Air Heaters
Competitively priced, "draw-thru" design with constant high CFM output for tempered make-up air applications. VFD (Variable Frequency Drive) controls are available for greater efficiency. It's the best choice for applications where ventilation is the primary concern.
S-Series Space Heaters
High performance, patented "Blow-Thru®" burner design with the industry's highest Btu/CFM ratio, and certified 160°F temperature rise for comfort heating applications. It matches the building's natural air infiltration and heats the minimum volume of outside air by supplying more Btu/CFM. The S-Series model is more compact, weighs less and is easier to install. It's the best choice for applications where space heating is the primary concern. It will cost much less to operate than a make-up air heater with the same Btu rating, and we can prove it!
