Lowest Total Cost

Don't let the lowest bidder determine what is important to you when it comes to energy efficiency, operating costs and system performance.

You want the best and most energy efficient heating system that meets your desired space heating and ventilation requirements at the LOWEST TOTAL COST!

The TOTAL COST of any heating/ventilating system includes:

Equipment Costs

  • Initial equipment purchase price

Installation Costs
  • Gas piping and electric wiring
  • Labor
  • Roof penetrations and structural supports
  • Interference with ongoing facility operations
  • Successful equipment start-up
Operating Costs
  • Energy Costs: gas, oil, steam, electricity. How expensive is the energy and how energy efficient is the heating system?
    • Direct gas-fired heaters are more energy efficient than indirect gas-fired heaters
    • For space heating, direct gas-fired Blow-Thru heaters are more energy efficient than direct gas-fired draw-thru make-up air heaters
    • For make-up air heating application, Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) for variable air volume control will reduce energy costs
  • Maintenance: manpower, serviceability, and replacement parts required to keep heating system operational and efficient
  • Service life and warranty: on the entire heater and critical components like the burner
Facility Impact Costs
  • Effect on indoor air quality
  • Gain/loss of floor area or vertical racking space
  • Employee comfort/complaints/productivity
  • System performance on even the coldest days
  • Downtime from problems associated with heating equipment

At Cambridge, our priority is your priority… to give you the LOWEST TOTAL COST! That's just what we have been doing for over 40 years.

Customer Testimonials - Lowest Total Cost

Chief Engineer - Steel Service Center
"We are the largest privately held flat-rolled steel service center network in the U.S. I have been specifying and using Cambridge direct gas-fired space heaters for the past 12 years to heat buildings that range from 50,000 to 500,000 sq. ft. I like the high temperature rise, Blow-Thru heaters because they seem to dry the air and prevent high humidity problems. In fact we have been replacing our unit heaters and air turnover heating systems with these heaters to save floor space, improve indoor air quality, reduce energy costs and prevent flash rust problems on our steel products."

Executive Director - New England Air Museum
"We used unit heaters and infrared heaters in other sections of our museum. They interfered with aircraft displays and we could not always get the heat where we wanted it. The maintenance of multiple unit heaters and infrared heaters was another problem. High fuel bills were the result of energy loss that escaped up the flue of these indirect gas-fired heaters. A single, energy efficient, thru-the-wall Cambridge space heater eliminated all these problems in our new B-29 bomber exhibit."

Director of Distribution Support - Retail Distribution Center
"Several years ago we built a new facility heated with floor mounted air turnover heaters. The indirect gas-fired system had lots of BTUs and horsepower, but it was not providing heat in all the right places. The mezzanines were over heated and the dock areas were freezing. We replaced it with a new Cambridge system that required 41% less MBH heat input. The electrical load was reduced from 100 horsepower on a continuous basis to 37.5 horsepower on an intermittent basis delivering additional energy savings. The key reasons for switching to Cambridge were, to regain floor space required by the large air turnover units, solve extremely cold dock door conditions and reduce our energy costs. We did all of this and met our pay-back goal in a year and a half."

Property Manager - Automotive Service
"High energy costs, recurring equipment failure, bad indoor air quality and most importantly, not enough heat were just a few of our heating system problems. The unit heaters in our shop and service bay could not handle the load and I was replacing units each winter season. Each time a service bay door was opened, cold air would rush in and the unit heaters could not handle the load. I replaced the unit heaters with Cambridge direct-fired heaters. Immediate benefits were improved aesthetics, lower maintenance costs, reduced man hours for upkeep and the Cambridge units don't get in the way of shop or service bay lights. The use of outside air improved indoor air quality and helped pressurize the building. These (Cambridge) units have done an excellent job heating the shop and my gas bills are down."

President - General Contractor (Metal Builder) - Indoor Sports Facility
"The introduction of 100% fresh air is an important consideration for indoor air quality (IAQ) in all applications, but it's critical in a building designed for indoor sports. Cambridge heated this facility with an S-Series Space Heater and the air quality has been great. My other big problem with past installations (where I had used floor mounted air rotation units) was where to locate them. The floor space issue was my biggest concern. The versatility of their thru-wall installation solved that problem. The installed cost was lower because I did not have to pierce the roof structure with a flue. This facility was put up during the middle of winter so the Project Manager was in need of temporary heat. He literally had 'instant heat' with the Cambridge system. We have several more locations in the planning stages right now and Cambridge is a tap-in for heating future buildings for us."
