Warehouse Heating

FACILITY: Distribution Center for Paper, Packaging & Business Products Cleveland, OH

PROBLEMS:

  • Maintain an even 63°F temperature throughout a large warehouse space (121,000 sq. ft., 27 ft. high building).
  • Facility has 17 dock doors and a 12 ft. x 14 ft. unloading bay which makes it hard to maintain desired comfort level.
  • Dense paper storage presents a challenge for effective heating and ventilating of the warehouse.
  • Install warehouse heating system at competitive cost.
  • Minimize operating and maintenance costs.

SOLUTIONS:

  • Use two Thru-Wall mounted Cambridge Warehouse Heaters to distribute heat on demand.
  • Warehouse heaters located near loading doors for quick response to cold air drafts from open doors.

RESULTS:

  • Cambridge effectively and efficiently heated this 121,000 sq. ft. building with less than 14,000 cfm and only two 5 HP motors operating intermittently.
  • Installed cost was very competitive.
  • Operating costs were less than projected.
  • Temperature variances within the building were only 2°F wall-to-wall and 4°F floor-to-ceiling (click here to see actual customer building study and data logger graph).

CUSTOMER COMMENTS:

The Distribution Center Manager said:

  • "I had no previous experience with Cambridge warehouse heaters before I came here. I had always worked with unit heaters…which is why I thought they had left some heaters out when I first got here. I am still amazed that these two small units can put out so much heat in a 121,000 sq. ft. area. I have recommended Cambridge in two new facilities we are considering."

  • "We often have people working in T-shirts even in the coldest winter days, yet our operating costs are below what we expected."

  • Cambridge's low maintenance demands are another big benefit of the warehouse heating system. "We go through routine spring and fall maintenance, and that's it."
